Tis’ The Season… at Shawnee Playhouse

Monday, October 10th, 2011

The Holidays are just around the corner! Leaves are falling, the temperatures are cooling, and we have some great shows coming up in November!

Home for Christmas” by Rod Foote will be a special treat this year at The Playhouse as we present two big acts of Christmas cheer filled not only with the glorious sounds of the season, but a touching one act play with music that is bound to tug at your heartstrings.  Following a first act of well-loved Christmas carols and other songs of the season along with heart-warming remembrances of Christmases past and a bit of comedy, too, Act Two brings on a new set and a new play. “The Greatest Christmas Story Ever Told” takes place in the Club Car of a train headed to Chicago from Seattle.  The time is Christmas Eve, 1940, and 9 strangers soon become the best of friends in that final pre-war year as they collectively find the comfort of the Holy Night bringing them together for a true celebration of Christmas.

Home for Christmas” runs from November 15 through December 22

Ticket prices are:

$28 Adults $25 Seniors $15 Children under 12

New to the Shawnee Playhouse stage,A Christmas Wizard of Oz” by Kathryn Schultz Miller

will be a fun time for the whole family, from the tiniest tots to the oldest members. A snow blizzard carries Dorothy and Toto to the Magical Elfinsland where Glinda is the Good Witch of the North Pole! Dorothy must get home to open her Christmas presents in the morning, so she sets off to meet the Wizard who lives in the Great Palace of Toys. The Scarecrow is now a Snowman, the Tin Man becomes a Tin Soldier and the Lion is now a toy Stuffed Lion that is sadly overpriced!

November 23 Through December 22

November 18, 19, 25, 26 and December 2,3,9,10,16,17,21,22

Also in November is “The Ultimate Elvis Tribute” featuring Jay Allan for one night only, November 18 at 8pm.

Jay Allen puts on a performance that will leave you All Shook Up….the vocals are haunting and the resemblance is downright shocking! JAY ALLAN The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist has been so successful and authentic because he is a fan first and foremost of Elvis Aaron Presley. Jay can perform any and all era’s of Elvis’ life (50′s, 60′s & 70′s). This separates Jay from other Impersonators. Jay Allan is backed by the “That’s The Way It Is Showband” and their show is becoming the top Elvis act in the Eastern United States.

“Great tribute……he does remind me of my brother”
DAVID STANLEY (Elvis’ Stepbrother)
